TOWN STAFF REPORT RECCOMENDATIONS

title
Consider approving Resolution 24-18 awarding bid to Pond Medics for installation of a New Fountain, Panel and new Pump to fill top pond from lower pond in Glenwyck Park; and take appropriate action (Kyle Flanagan, Deputy Director of Public Works)

STAFF: Kyle Flanagan, Deputy Director Public Works

BACKGROUND:

The Town of Westlake maintains the ponds and equipment within Glenwyck Park.  As such the original fountain and pump motor that is anchored to the bottom of the pond has quit working.  The current method to remove this fountain is to have Scuba divers unhook the fountain from the weighted anchor and pull it from the pond for repairs.  We are proposing a floating fountain like the other 3 ponds in Glenwyck currently have.  This will eliminate the need to have Scuba Divers in the future.

Staff hired electricians to come on site to try and trouble shoot the equipment which found that we do have power to the control cabinet, but the pumps simply will not turn on to fill the pond.

DISCUSSION:

Consider approving Pond Medics to replace the fountain and pump system utilizing Master Interlocal Agreement with the City of Denton contract #8223 in an amount not to exceed $24,000.00

Funding for this project would come from the Account Code 100-45911-19-000 Park Repairs and Maintenance which has $12,300.00 available and Account Code 100-44306-19-000 Grounds Repairs and Maintenance has $12,400.00 available to cover this work.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the replacement of the equipment.
