BACKGROUND:
The town is responsible for the replacement of driveways in the Stagecoach subdivision that are holding water due to settlement and damage to a previously replaced culvert in the Town right of way that was installed with a prior utility project.
DISCUSSION:
In 2011, the town installed an 8-inch water line in the Stagecoach Hills subdivision to serve the properties. The water lines are located within the right of way, within close proximity to the drive approaches. Property owners have requested repair or replacement of the driveways to resolve the ponding in the bar ditch. In order to remedy the driveway settlement and ponding, one corrugated metal culvert will be replaced with a 15-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and then both concrete driveways will be re-poured.
Utilizing a Master Interlocal Agreement with the City of Denton, staff will contract with Floyd Smith Concrete Inc. for the replacement of the culvert and driveways on Thornton Street in the Stagecoach development at a cost not to exceed $35,000 which includes a 14% contingency to cover any unforeseen changes during construction.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost for replacement of driveways shall not exceed $35,000 and will funded from the Street Drainage - Public Works General Fund budget which has an available balance of $45,000.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of Resolution 24-48 approving the agreement with Floyd Smith Concrete, Inc. for concrete repair and installation services through a Master Interlocal Agreement with the City of Denton in an amount not to exceed $35,000.
