SUMMARY:
The purpose of this presentation is to inform the Board of Trustees of the Westlake Academy Library Materials Collection Development policy that has been written for the library materials that are curated and made available to Westlake Academy students. Texas Administrative Code 13 TAC §4.2 requires that “each Texas public school district board or governing body must approve and institute a collection development policy that describes the processes and standards by which a school library acquires, maintains, and withdraws materials.” The mandatory collection development standards were developed by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in accordance with section 33.021 of the Texas Education Code and Texas House Bill 900.
The Westlake Academy Library Materials Collection Development policy was written to meet the requirements of the law, align with the mission of Westlake Academy as an IB World School, and provide clear and reasonable procedures to guide families, librarians, teachers, administrators, and school board members.

None.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval and adoption of the Westlake Academy Library Materials Collection Development Policy.
